Oh Jamie Jamie Jamie.. What an addictive voice! I was very much in love with his music a few years back and did the whole
“imgoingtolistentothisalbumoverandoverandovercoshessocoolandicanbetoo”
thing at college – and then I forgot about our little Jamie until i was at a friend’s in London when one of the guys put his album on and proceeded to sing all the lyrics to “Back in the Game” to me and me back to him (aided by a few vodka & cranberrys). I only wish I’d had my friends Essex accent to go with my “performance”.. “Take your brother down to the sea, and have twos on a cigarette” isn’t the sexiest sounding lyric to sing in my northern accent! But hey, I may a cracking cup of tea. Nuff said.
Back to Mr T........nooo not the one with the massive guns throwing the snickers.. Mr Jamie T. I really can’t fault his work; it’s made the best of us think it would be good to sound like a scally just to get 10% of the credit this guy gets from the indie fans! One of my favourites has to be the old faithful “Sheila”; I genuinely feel sorry for the girl in this song...sure I’ve seen her roaming around Wakefield, oh that’s it... Chloe Mafia. Classy times indeed.
From the upbeat songs of Sheila and Back in the game Jamie likes to show his soft side I think; Caught in a spider’s web & Emily’s Heart are lovely songs. There’s something quite soothing about an acoustic guitar and a soft drunk sounding voice, easily pleased what can I say.
Anyway I’m going to wrap this up, i’m writing this on a cold train back home and my fingers are getting cold... don’t worry though, I’ve got a fruit & nut to keep me happy.
