I had the blues but I shook them loose

Bombay Bicycle Club are a band that are very close to my romantically lead heart, they are a band I listen to to make me feel at ease, a band to cheer me up and over everything give me that feeling of comfort and homeliness that I need. Whoever knows me that is reading this will laugh at the fact that I need a feeling of home, as I speak to my mum everyday and live at home 3 days of the work, YES I am very close to my family, I don't think I'll ever cut the chord! ha!
A photo my brother took in London

Yet... this security blanket of an album is not one I have shared with many people, I have never gone on about them to friends, rarely picked them out on my ipod at someone's house... but every time I turn on my iPod and I'm a little unsure of what to listen to I always know I'm going to enjoy listening to this album. To me this album has the same sentiment that The Maccabees does. I know the lyrics, I know what song comes next and the melody inside out and back to front. This album, for me, takes you out of wherever you are - I worry... A LOT (God knows why since I have the perfect little life with the best family I could ask for!). But for a song to take my mind completely away from my troubles has to have some power to it I tell you!

Bombay Bicycle Club are very Alternative, I don't think I've ever been a fan of that word to describe the vast world of indie music as people like you and me get described as Alternative too. Better words that spring to mine about this band are different, exciting and unique. These lovely boys are from Crouch End in London. Jack Steadman, Jamie MacColl, Ed Nash and Suren de Saram are who comprise the band, after their big debut at V Festival things have only ever looked up for the boys.
They used to be a called the Canals, but landed on the the name Bombay Bicylce Club named after a chain of Indian restaurants in London. The picture my brother took for is one of these restaurants, and Lewis must have been on the ball to spot this restaurant and take a picture for me on a moving coach! Well Done Lew! I am shortly getting this picture printed and blown up to add to what will be lots of memories and art work when I get my own place! Dedicated fan or what?!?!

The lyrics are not only romantic sometimes but are quite real and emotional, the lead singer is a very odd sound. But in the same way that it is emotional I can't imagine any other voice singing those lyrics. Favourite songs?

"Cancel On Me"
 Dreaming of you pushing up to me;

And I know where it's going to lead.
Dreaming of you rushing up to me;
And you know it's where you want to be

Evening//Morning

The Hill

And my favourite one that completely chills me out has to be
The Giantess// This song is so relaxed

So Please have a little listen and enjoy their music, they will definitely be at your big festivals this year I hope!

Two words, Most Def, K West

Thank God for Roc-A-Fella Records. The College Drop Out was the debut album for Kanye West way back in 2004. It's so long ago yet feels so recent since that album was released, yet before he graced us with this album he worked with the likes of Jay - Z and was recognized for his amazing spirit and soulful hip hop style and production. But what better company could he have asked for than Jay-Z and John Legend? Ridiculously talented and very cool in showing it off at that.

This song is one I forgot about, always nice to get re-acquainted with songs you used to love. I used to think that listening to hip hop would only set you up for failed day dreams of what could be. Now I think it just sets you up for the times you're going to experience; listening to the hardship of other people and likening your tiny little world and feelings to something real and bigger than you might ever experience always gives me that little feeling of contentment.
“This video never got played because I refused to remove the titles on it. They said people will think a TV show is going off and I said that’s the whole point. Wow… even only 3 videos in to the game…. I refused to compromise my vision.”
- Kanye West

They were right though, it does look like the start to a great film or TV programme, I could definitely see this song and video playing to kick off something great. Watching The Hangover last night I realised they used 4 Kanye West songs, no reason to ask why is there?!?! The video is mostly in black and white and other bits in the picture format that most of the Urban Outfitter sheep (yes, I am one of them) are calling "Vintage" and cool.... Kanye was ahead of them and it definitely gives this video a more real yet surreal setting.

Favourite lyrics have to be:

I am limelight, Blueprint, 5 Mics
Go get his rhyme like, shoulda been signed twice
Most imitated, Grammy nominated
Hotel accommodated, cheerleader, prom dated
Barbershop, playa hated, mom and pop, bootlegged it
Felt like it rained till the roof caved in
Two words, Chi town, raised me, crazy
So I live by two words, "Fuck you, pay me"
Screamin, Jesus save me

I think think thinkkk.. Blue print, 5 mics is referring to his collaboration with Jay Z but I'm not sure, sure one of you hardcore fans will pull me up on it! Favourite bit of the song, The Harlem Boys Choir - amazing touch to the song. Hate to say it because it sounds so cheesy but it does give the song that Hip Hop feel too it. I KNOW, I am not the slightest bit cool but you can chuff off if you think I'm talking shit.
Would like to write a little note to anyone reading this, this blog is for my own sanity. I like writing, like music and oh shit fancied doing a blog :)

So get watching the video and maybe wack it on your ipod like I will be doing on my tube journey in London Town this weekend, ya know.. cos i'm really ghetto n that?

But we're not singin', we're just dancin'

People who always call you young
Believe in things that can't be done
Enough about the artist, enough about the video, today I just want to hype up the record.

So the boyfriend calls me to tell me I sound just like the girl at the start of this song, I quickly type it into youtube, turn up the volume on my speakers and sit waited for it to load - excited to hear what I sound like through his ears. Baring in mind he has a lovely voice and is very well spoken, I sat fingers crossed that he didn't think I sounded, well....."rough". As the song plays, I listen to a very northern accent shouting back at me saying "But we're not singin' we're just dancin' at first I thought brilliant, a chav. Maybe for future reference I should start pronouncing those G's and T's.. Anyway, safe to say it it does sound like me! This song is a B-side, one I had never heard before until the lovely Daniel calls me up and introduces me to more Jamie T than I ever knew. I love the voice that sings "Believing in things that can be done"; it gets my heart racing just a little bit more as the bass guitar follows what sounds like a little boys voice. Jamie speaks the truth of being independant and doing your own thing, running away, being young. But ultimately you will always want to run home however long it takes you to get back on the right tracks.
The melody of this song is beautiful, light hearted and cheery and has one of my most favourite qualities too it, it is chillledddd. So thankyou to Jamie and thankyou to B-sides - I hope this track gets as much recognition as its worth.

Yeh Calvin, I'm deffo ready for the weekend my love.

Calvin oh how you surprised me...... After stupidly thinking Calvin Harris and Mark Ronson were brothers
for god knows how many months, I came to the realization that Calvin's album 'Ready For the Weekend' was in fact  a decent listen. Little bit of electro, little bit of dance, mixing it up are we Calvin?! Realising now that I am massively overusing his name....... OK one last time CALVIN!!
My favourite song on the album has always been Flashback, but sat here on one of my many train journeys now listening to it, I've got a feel for 5iliconeater.. Christ knows how you say that, I'm not going to try as we'll end up with another Deadmau5 situation, unnecessary "5"'s aren't the way forward. Buy anyway I like this song for different reasons, its quite misplaced in the album - everything is quite upbeat, stuff you can dance to.. but this oddly named song is very mellow and chilled. Is it.... wait I'll just check........yep its the last song on the album, bit of a come down from the rest of the songs. Good thinking batman, how thoughtful of you.

Flashback simply reminds me of college, me and my friend buzzzeedd our shiny little faces off to this song when it first came out, I saw him on t4 at the beach on telly and thought hmmm i'm not feeling it Calves. But seeing him at V Festival last summer was one of the best gigs I've been to (and we're excluding KOL, Peaches, Kasabian etcccc here)! Dancing with the girls, and by girls I mean my friends - not my boobs! - to his set was dare I say it quite electric! Like a toned down David Guetta the crowd were jumping, hands were definitely in the air and I randomly knew all the words (INSERT APPLAUDS HERE, THANKYOU PLEASE) So did everyone though, this feel good album got everyone in the mood for a dance. I remember him starting with Ready For The Weekend; always a classic; and people cheered like there was no tomorrow.
Stars come out; I like. But I'll be honest that I like it mainly for the chorus of the song when the high pitched voice sings "We can watch the stars come out, find out what we like about, everyone without a doubt". Its another shower classic when you're getting ready..............but so is "You used to hold me". Oh this album is hard to analyse and critique; just going to go with a sweeping opinion that says the whole album is good! Apart from one song which I wasn't going to mention to be polite but I'm going to have to now..argh I feel bad... its "Worst Day".....The lyrics ready "Today is the worst day of my life" - never would I sing "This is the the worst day of my life" in an upbeat manner to this song, how ridiculous!

Lets not end on a bad note though, Album - good, Live - very good. Calvin - good looking. See what I did there? Hope you've had a good weekend, mine has been bloody brilliant :) Signing off on the train, sporting a very new hairstyle which I can't wait to shock my friend with tonight over an ever romantic, non sexual dinner date.

Tuesday 19 April 2011

Kiss me, ki-ki-kiss me. Infect me with your love and fill me with your poison

Take me, ta-ta-take me
Wanna be a victim
Ready for abduction

Boy, you're an alien
Your touch so foreign
It's supernatural
Extraterrestrial
Kanye is ev-er-y-wherreeee isn't he?
I think he literally has a voice to go with any artist and I could listen to him all day. Before I watched the video I got a text from my friend who got a little overexcited that our lovely Katy Perry had released a new single... so the hype was already there before we even started. I don't want to have to say it but I did feel like there is a slight similarity to Lady GaGa's new video 'Born This Way' - simply because everything was so futuristic; maybe they had the same producers or maybe they are just besties and said

"Lets Do The Same Vid Babe"

Anyway they're equally interesting to watch; I like Katy's for her acting, is there nothing this girl can't do? I thought to myself, if they put me in that outfit I would look like an absolute mug. Even if I have the same hairstyle as her, that makeup would not look right. I would quite like to know how this girl can pull off a nest head piece and huge alien eyes, and still look fit?

The start of the song is great because its so eery, as if they have found an old record player and its a sound they haven't heard for thousands of years, the beat switches so quickly and sets the tone for the rest of the song.. Ooo very creative you two!

The lyrics are romantically linked, as ever, but what I like about this is that you've got to read between the lines of the song. To me, it's almost talking about that feeling of being overwhelmed by someone, like the feeling you would get if Kanye West came up to you and said "Marry me?" Boys.. you know you'd feel the same too! Especially my mate Taz who has on countless occasions expressed his love for Mr. West.

Your so supersonic
Wanna feel your powers
Stun me with your lasers
Your kiss is cosmic
Every move is magic

I can't pick favourite lyrics in this song, but just love the sound of both their voices - I like that they've tried something completely new, its one thing singing it but the end produced result is what made it for me. I'd like to see this performed live, with a futuristic set and dancers.... One thing I've noticed is that big artists aren't just producing 3 minute videos to go with the song anyway, they're almost producing 8 minute films. GaGa and Kanye are prime examples of this, 30 - 40 million hits on youtube, what more could you ask for?

I mean its like my blog.. 30 - 40 million hits a day... just minus the million :)

If you've not had chance yet then give your full attention to the video below and keep an eye on Kanye for me, I can't keep track of this guy!

Friday 15 April 2011

My thoughts got rude as you talked and chewed on the last of your pick and mix

OK, first things first.. Alex Turner is wearing the exact headphones I have on right now in the music video for "Cornerstone" - coincidence? I THINK NOT. All I need now is to jump on someone's shoulders at Benicassim festival when I see them live this summer, give him a quick wink and the romance will surely begin.

A very slight contribution to the forthcoming posts of the Sheffield Monkeys! Arctic Monkeys are full on favourites of mine and that is one of the many reasons I will be attending Benicassim Music Festival in Spain this summer, besides the buzzing crowds, late night partying, brilliant bands and artists performing.. and oh let’s not forget the half naked indie boys! This post is quite album specific though, I LOVE every other album but the friends in close proximity to me always underestimate the album HUMBUG. Why though? OK so it was a little dark, mysterious and sexy... we find those qualities attractive in each other so why not in an album?
Cornerstone
Songs like Cornerstone where the story plays out that he spends weeks going round town trying to find a girl just like his ex girlfriend and ending up getting with her sister sounds very true to life. NOTE: For any guy I might have had a little kiss with that is reading this - I've never got with your brother don't worry! The music video makes me laugh, Alex oddly walking up to the screen, eyes wide humorously demonstrating little bits of the story.. altogether a brilliant song to that makes you feel like you are the one in that day dreamy gaze trying to forget about a lost romance.
Secret Door
"I'm completely occupied by the fools on parade, cavort and carry on for waiting eyes...
She's never been the kind to be hollowed by the stares"
The album has such an eery feel to it all the way through that you feel compelled to put yourself in the same mood as the melody... Secret Door, for me, likens to a bar scene looking through the eyes of a drunk girls boyfriend - reluctant to get involved with all the drunken madness. Maybe I'm on my own with that thought, its usually the case that I think oppositely to normal minds.. but I've been that guy, embarrassing stares just don't seem to sink in for some people. But maybe thats the way to be!

Crying Lightening
"And I hate that little game you had called crying lightening"...
The single they released to introduce the album. The Pirates of the Caribbean-esque music video, sultry faces and the storm picking up as the song does. I like it. But what I like about this song is that it has that Arctic Monkeys feel to it, you have to sing along, you have to know the lyrics - I must refer to From Ritz To The Rubble - as a teen me and my friend got it into our heads that we would learn the song inside out in ONE day - its doable... With Crying Lightening you get that buzz and I thought it was a great choice for the single release

Fire and the thud... Dance little liar... The Jewelers hands
I could go on. Any of you skeptical so and sos.. wack the album on again, dim those lights and get involved in the songs. Or... just enjoy it.
FiftysAtHeart signing out for a great weekend ahead
xx

Thursday 14 April 2011

Just a second, it's my favorite song they're gonna play. And I cannot text you with a drink my hand, eh

Hello, hello, baby;
You called, I can't hear a thing.
I have got no service
in the club, you see, see…
Wha-Wha-What did you say?
Oh, you're breaking up on me…
Sorry, I cannot hear you,
I'm kinda busy.
Coke cans for rollers, chain dresses, cigarette sunglasses, hot girls in a prison, black lipstick, crazy hair styles and USA flag outfits?
It can only be GagGa and Beyonce - Telephone.

Mm mm honey bee, you sure you wanna do this?

This post is completely dedicated to this video and one of my favourite songs I only have one girl to sing it with - that is my beautiful Essex girl Emily. Wait there is more... our nicknames for eachother are "GaGa" and "B" by text.........whats more is I'm not even embarassed. Em got me quite obsessed with GaGa and its the only uncool obsession we're aloud to have according to Brandon & Wes. Thanks boys. When they came to visit me at Uni we put a very large bottle of Smirnoff vodka in a punch bowl, mildly diluted with juice. We left it with the boys while we got ready, when we came back we assumed they'd been drinking it so shared the bowl between us. Dancing to a Gaga marathon on the VIVA music Channel, finishing the whole thing between two of us, apparently the boys were waiting for us. Thanks for the heads up! I can only describe the rest of the night as ridiculously funny, and I think you know you're wasted when you do a sleezy dance move down to the floor and don't get back up!!

"Boy, the way you blowin' up my phone
won't make me leave no faster.
Put my coat on faster,
leave my girls no faster.
I shoulda left my phone at home,
'cause this is a disaster!
Callin' like a collector -
sorry, I cannot answer!"

When Beyonce raps to GaGa in the car I have to rewind it - rewind? - no its not on tape... but I rewind it back and HAVE to sing each and every word she does. My favourite bits of the video have to be GaGa's dance with the blonde dancers, when Beyonce dances in the bedroom and ultimately when they both dance together in the glad outfits. Talk about being a DIVA? These girls have got it to a tee! I think the situation I'm in at the moment I'm going to have to take note on hardening up and keeping up those barriers, thank god we've got girls like this under the lights to follow!

Now I can see how this is coming across, I am being very girly and embarassing about Pop music aren't I? But I can't be cool all the time, next I'll post about Moby or Air... keep it sophisticated and deep right? Cool.

Here is the video below and a couple of favourites from GaGa, Beyonce will get her own post one day but I'm saving that for when I have time to dedicate a decent write up to her. It just wouldn't be fair if not.. :)

Have a great Friday. Fiftys At Heart xx

Tales of Ordinary Madness

"Yes I can see, cos every girl in here wants to be her... Cos she's a Diva, I feel the same and I want to meet her"
"Sorry if my voice is sounding a little croaky today ladies and gents, I'm feeling very fragile after I drank far too much last night"
Is how Paloma opened her set at V Festival, cheering and close to screaming her name me and the girls looked on at this wonderful, glamorous being. I'd always admired her music and her look (when i had auburn hair it was based solely on Paloma, so i dyed it... then all i got was "Ohhh wow grace, you just look like Florence!!" FUCK. I should have sported a redder lipstick and stunning fairytale dresses. Maybe not emphasised my pale skin and acted like a hippy! Either way, her look is the ultimate of how I wish I could dress, but I'll have to wait til I move to London......where I go to uni if you wear a headscarf or anything that wasnt from TopShop then you are "quirky" HENCE why i return to Leeds every weekend to work.
Favourite outfits? Her red dress at V has a detatchable head-dress that turned into an umbrella, the metal dress above and overall her classic 50's sweetheart/pin up girl looks we see on her weekly! Teach me! Ha.

Paloma Paloma Paloma......
I must go through just some of the songs I like, it would only be fair not only to Paloma but to me. I know this album inside out.. why? I used to work at a cute little clothes boutique and my glamorous boss asked me who she thought would be good to play in the shop, I said Paloma and bought her the album the same week. We literally had it on repeat every Saturday and I never got bored, I just sadly knew what song and even what note played next! So....
Play On & Smokes and Mirrors & Tales of Ordinary Madness
Favourites of the album, for the hairbrush holding girls this is one to wear your PJs and dance round the bedroom to. Not saying me and Sophie have ever had a few wines and thought we were Whitney Houston or anything, but we might have put this album on and rushed to the shower. The feel of this song is almost haunted for me, a Moulin Rouge vintage theme with Paloma's modern flair added to it to make it contemporary. Yes, I used the word contemporary. Got to put some of this 9 grand degree I've got to some use havn't I?

Do you want the truth or something beautiful?
"I didn't want to speak the honest truth, so I spit out lies that aim to sooth"
Beautifully written lyrics on a relaxing melody, I love this song for the passion in her voice towards the end of the song. When I say her perform she wasn't only a singer, she acted, she danced and perfomed the entire album - and we loved it!

Sexy Minx
She quite cutely insulted fans of David Guetta at V Festival, but said she was a fan of the song. Me and the girls looked at eachother not really knowing what to expect, but when she started I felt overwhelmed with excitement. Her performance was stunning and the way she sung the lyrics made all of us tingle...Just brilliant.

New York
Time to confess? Ok... when she started singing this song I might have turned to Sophie and said "This song is actually about me" I am NOT going to go into the guy this is about but the moment I said it I regretted it as Sophie's beaming face laughed in my face! I love the music video for this song too, very American sweetheart
girl, bowling alleys and prom dresses.

Last one, I know I do go on....
Stone Cold Sober
"I'm in a whole other dimension dancing doubles on the floor"
Before she hit the charts I'd come across this song on a late night Chanel 4 music programme, she wasn't as big in my eyes as she is now.. but I knew when I heard it it would make it big.. The lyrics are very truthful which I love, I always think about a night I was out and high on nothing but happiness. No alcohol fuelling my confidence, and an ex came over to me and dramatically grabbed my shoulders and said "Grace you've had too much to drink, you're buzzing around full of I don't know what" Being stone cold sober and telling him the reason I was so happy was because we weren't togetheer would have been a lovely thing to say... good thing I said it then wasn't it. Poor boy look very disheartened!

Anyway guys and girls, have a little listen to the songs below and most definitely buy her album, she's fab!

All the play fightin', all the flirtatious disses

I want to be rich and I want lots of money
I don't care about clever I don't care about funny
I want loads of clothes and fuck loads of diamonds
I heard people die while they are trying to find them

From glitter grunge to pretty and sophisticated, Lily Allen has flourished in front of my eyes. As a teen (or more truthfully just the other day) I've taken many many notes on how she looks, without realising I've recently been wearing glitter, jeweled lashes and converse with dresses - and thats just to the library! Yes I know, I'm late to the trend but SO WHAT? Her music makes me smile, lyrics of "London Town", makeups and the not so nice breakups, girls fighting over the mirror and fronting each other in clubs. Very down to earth lyrics without the preaching bit. Lily is very cool about being serious. From music to fashion she has gracefully changed her career focus, no drama just honesty - and all on the telly. No kerry katona/katy price moments THANK GOD. But I wouldn't expect any less than truthful and real of Lily.

Friday Night - The alternate reality part of my mind or as I like to call it casual daydreaming has been accompanied by this song many a time; walking round Leeds or on the bus this has been a song on repeat on my ipod. I'm not saying I could be the hard case girl in this song but god would I want to be! I've had a couple of moments (to name a few) where girls have fronted me up in clubs... hence why i stick to bars!!... and what I would give to have Lily stood next to me when that happens!

The music video for 22 is a favourite, pretty girls fighting for the mirror - those looking haggered, those immaculate and then there's me - not sure why i'm in the toilet because theres not much you can do but shake up your hair a bit and share a cubicle with your friend after a couple of wines. Balancing your drinks by the door, stumbling about checking your messages from that boy who is only keen on saturday nights and telling your friend "Yes you look really fit tonight, that girl he's with tonight is such a plane jane next to you... Tequila next then?"

Her cover of Womanizer... sorry Britney, Lily's sounds better. I've read there's no bad ground between them, they're fans of one another's music.. If only the press would leave Lily at that, I wish everyone would choose to ignore negative press about her. For me she's doing everything at the right time of her life and successfully at that. Wow I'm starting to sound like a psycho big fan, I don't usually rant on about how brilliant someone is... but we can make an exception for a Brit right?
More covers... The Kooks//Naive - very sweet and Keane - lovely job!

Littlest things lyrics.
Sometimes I find myself sittin' back and reminiscing
Especially when I have to watch other people kissin'
And I remember when you started callin' me your miss's
All the play fightin', all the flirtatious disses
I'd tell you sad stories about my childhood
I don't why I trusted you but I knew that I could
We'd spend the whole weekend lying in our own dirt
I was just so happy in your boxers and your t-shirt

I love with a capital L this song, I remember way back in 2007 when she first released it I'd put it on my ipod and hadn't really listened to the lyrics before the time I was sat on the train aimlessly staring out of the window... love struck and an emotional youth, I fell in love with this song. God I thought romances of the heart were supposed to be harder when you grew up, but I was 17 and my heart hurt a hundred times more! Thank god for Mum's, a cup of tea and a cuddle and she'd turn my life right back around :) What a star!

I've just written a paper on Chanel; Lily was once a Chanel "It" girl if you like.. I'm not going to go into why she was dropped but better focus on how much she pulled off the Audrey Hepburn look, that takes some doing. And flicking through pictures for this blog I've had thoughts about changing my hair again to her bombshell blonde look, OK FINE i'm not a bombshell but I might just have to let the hairdressers wack some extensions in and let the MAC girls at work see what they can do with me!

To summarize anyway guys and girls... this young woman is talented, I love her music and will make many efforts to pop into her new vintage shop when I'm in London in a couple of weeks. Remind yourself with a few classic songs below.

Bang Bang Bang on the wall...From dusk til dawn

Am I the only one who's insane?
Hey, you're playing with my delerium

Stop! Playing with my delerium
Cos I'm out of my head and out my self control

Ladyhawke you sexy blonde.....I've once thought that this girl was everything I loved about indie pop music. Cool, very cool in fact - she pulls off dirty blonde hair, glitter, and a retro look only I can aspire to! Oh and guess what - she plays guitar........... Let me be you? She's so serious in her videos that you either don't take her seriously or your mind gets locked into watching her, every next move or next look is as warped as the last. Her videos don't make much sense, which I like - they're almost only for the likes that are fans of Mighty Boosh and understand the weirdness of indie electro - trashed young kids then I guess.

Well this strange young thing isn't so strange, her natural laid back look makes her more British than she is. This New Zealand girl has been known to tour with Soulwax, The Tings and Kylie......but stands well on her own in UK festivals. I love the lyrics
 ** Magic **
I've made a start with you but you're over the Atlantic baby.
One journey for you but its worth, one life here with me and its magic

I think shes a tamer Crystal Castles, I've referred to Crystal Castles quite a few times, as if I like them - but I really don't, I can understand some odd music but those guys are just weird........lets not pretend that a darth vader (incorrect spelling yeh?) sound is in any way cool just because the girls wearing an hood and lots of black makeup......
Back to LadyHawke, the lyrics at the start of this post are literally how I felt for a solid month around November last year - sleepless nights and acting totally out of character - Nooooo it wasn't because of a boy. I think everyone just goes through that phase of feeling very weird about everything and wanting to change everything in your life. In that month I nearly quit uni and moved down to London early to be a waitress for gods sake, heads screwed back on now though - finish my degree and I can do WHAT.EVER.I.WANT. Yey.

The song Back of the Van makes me feel like I'm back in the 80's - big hair and shiny clothes (I wish everyone still dress like that now!) Its a very decent song aswell, one I can dance around my room to and know all the words too...again, if anyone wants to scout me for my shower singing abilities and shit dance moves I'll be more than happy to oblige!

So, heres a few of my favourites from LadyHawke - the ultra indie artist I'll never stop getting bored of.

MAGIC, MY DELERIUM, CRAZY WORLD, PARIS IS BURNING, DUSK TIL DAWN

Girls got love on their minds

Ok, maybe the bar wasnt like this - but it might aswell have been!
I've got love on my mind... aint no use in me wasting time
Ohhh I can live without you!

This song is what I can only refer to in the least wakey way possible as an ABSOLUTE TUNE MATE. I have been known by my old flat mates to listen to Beyonce every night before I went out because - and I am quoting what I said "SHE MAKES ME FEEL LIKE A DIVA". For my 21st thety bought be a washing up sponge with a big diva afro lady on it, best present ever? I think so.

Wow that makes me think...last year I used to go out at least 3 or 4 times a week, what happened?!? Me and my boyfriend went away for the weekend just gone and after 3 wines and sharing a bottle of champagne between the two of us I was desperate to "show you Leeds nightlife comee onnn" - thats what I rememeber saying at least 4 times. I dragged him to a bar and after we'd got our drinks, straight to the dancefloor. Now this is the worst bit.. we felt out of place! A blonde girl grinding up and down swinging her hair around and at least 5 lads around her doing the dad dance, we stood there looking at eachother thinking yes, we're in the wrong place. I (on my own, thanks Dan) danced to a club classic - then we went back to the hotel - stole 7 apples from the foyer thinking we were Ross in friends and realised we were both wasted!

HOWEVER, this is a simple blog post to highlight a brilliant song like that club classic and a note to my girls to say LETS GO OUT. I want do drink a bottle of wine, do a Buca shot out of the meerkat ornament with a shot glass taped to its head (RIP meerkat) wear are very short dress and dance to songs like these all night!
