A moment of love, a dream, a laugh, a kiss.

How has it taken me so long to post about one of my most favouritist bands ever? Maybe I listen to them so much that they'd slipped into the the Wellthey'reobviouslyamazingIdontneedtogoonaboutthem section of my life. Well I am very sorry Temper Trap, this little post is one of many appreciative comments to come for you.

Temper Trap were a band I came across quite a few years ago, before the big break out of Sweet Disposition...(just a little note that this is a possible tattoo in the near future for me, saying that I have thought it might be a little awkward when I marry Dougy Mandagi and I'm like ohhhh yeh, this is a tattoo of that song you wrote - No Biggy! Wow this blog is starting to look like I am a massive band groupie, what a nightmare that would be lol...) Anyway it is great to listen to their big hit songs on the radio and is an album I wack on loud while I have a shower, its surprisingly easy to pretend you can sing like him...try it.
But what I have loved most is finding those songs they have done that aren't talked about so much but are brilliant like "My Sun" and "Sirens"... amazing tracks and are backed up by the simple but very cool music videos online..

When I went to V Festival last summer I lost my friends for a good 2 hours after I went to watch them on my own, in shock that they would choose to watch Jaaasssoonnn Deruuuulo over a band like Temper Trap I ran to go catch them and spent the entire set dancing and singing all the words on my own with a beer in hand - was actually one of the nicest things ever though I have to say.
I do have a friend in London, the hilarious Babet (Kris) who looks a lot like the lead singer...Kris did give us a nice impression of Dougy though so he didn't let me down too much.
Back to the music, unbelievable album, even better live........stunning voice and very clever music. In the geekiest way I have to mention the song "Resurrection" and more specifically 4 minutes into the song... listen and you'll know what I mean, good for those that like to go crazy and lose it to the music at gigs.
One of many posts of these to come, FiftysAtHeart xx

Keep on running, keep keep on running.

However much I listen to the original White Lies "To Lose my Life" album of 2009 and enjoy it, I really can't help craving the Chase & Status remix of "Death"... Not just because I love a bit of dirty electro and drum & bass, but because I have the clearest memory of sitting on the floor of a B&B in Great Yarmouth (after we has crashed the boat on the Norfolk broads lake and were waiting til they had pulled it off the banking for us ha..great story)... but because of that beat!! As we all listened to it on a tiny iphone, we got sooo into the song. Alcohol & etc may have made it better than it was, but still i love the build up of this song and will continue to play that in a getting ready and predrink sesh with my friends!
White Lies can be pushed towards the emotional indie kids, but when you see them live they are a band for everyone. I have a not so secret on the vampish looking lead singer, but mainly for his voice and very serious lyrics - especially as i watch him now in "Farewell to the Fairground" oooof. Their look for me is a Mod with a touch of Fred Perry, but thankfully not in an obvious way. There's never anything cool about someone wearing a brand, lets all shy away from head to toe Topshop & Fred Perry please! :) I love their mod hair cuts, where their fringes are that little bit too short or long. But enough of my perving..
If I remember rightly I have seen them at Benicassim FIB festival and LoveBox in London.. they're so chilled that when you watch them play it looks effortless..anyone that hasn't given them a chance I think you really should... for me they're a band to chill to and definitely one for the train!
Look forward to the guys new album "Ritual" after their new song and weird sex video "Strangers"... on  a couple of interviews I have seen with them they seem to avoid wanting to let their fans listen to their old music, saying its a pointless thing to do. I laughed out loud at an analogy they made of saying showing their fans their old music would be like a mother showing people her husbands penis to explain where her son came from! So OK boys you're not going to be as open as The Killers with their back log of albums that showed us where and how their music developed. But for some of us that are interested, it would be great to hear one or two of your songs to show where you came from.
Anyway all I can say is keep up the good work, I will definitely be keeping an eye out for you on my festival time tables in this promising summer of 2011.

Good One.. Dj..Play the record on man.

Oh Jamie Jamie Jamie.. What an addictive voice! I was very much in love with his music a few years back and did the whole
“imgoingtolistentothisalbumoverandoverandovercoshessocoolandicanbetoo”
thing at college – and then I forgot about our little Jamie until i was at a friend’s in London when one of the guys put his album on and proceeded to sing all the lyrics to “Back in the Game” to me and me back to him (aided by a few vodka & cranberrys). I only wish I’d had my friends Essex accent to go with my “performance”.. “Take your brother down to the sea, and have twos on a cigarette” isn’t the sexiest sounding lyric to sing in my northern accent! But hey, I may a cracking cup of tea. Nuff said.
Back to Mr T........nooo not the one with the massive guns throwing the snickers.. Mr Jamie T.  I really can’t fault his work; it’s made the best of us think it would be good to sound like a scally just to get 10% of the credit this guy gets from the indie fans! One of my favourites has to be the old faithful “Sheila”; I genuinely feel sorry for the girl in this song...sure I’ve seen her roaming around Wakefield, oh that’s it... Chloe Mafia. Classy times indeed.
From the upbeat songs of Sheila and Back in the game Jamie likes to show his soft side I think; Caught in a spider’s web & Emily’s Heart are lovely songs. There’s something quite soothing about an acoustic guitar and a soft drunk sounding voice, easily pleased what can I say.
Anyway I’m going to wrap this up, i’m writing this on a cold train back home and my fingers are getting cold... don’t worry though, I’ve got a  fruit & nut to keep me happy.

GIRL CRUSH. What's her name?

If you have watched MTV/4 MUSIC/ TELEVISION IN GENERAL recently then you'll know I'm talking about Rihanna... now I have been known to change my hair colour as much as i change my ermm, socks... but I swore I would never go back to having red hair because of the hassle of sitting with bright pink hair dye on every 3 days, until i saw Rihanna. This girl is amazing, beautiful figure, wears colour like its going out of fashion and has an outstanding voice. My shower singing voice sounds very similar to hers but I'm not going to fight her for a Brit Award, too cool for all that. Besides the point, I'm loving S&M (the song), Only Girl in the World and Hard. With my awkward and "quirky" as many of my friends like to put it, personality, comes a problem...I CAN'T DANCE. Star Child, other wise known as my brother, is at performing arts college and has been known to pirouette and do back flips round me on the dance floor......my point was that Rihanna's music makes me think I CAN DANCE. Singing and dancing like Will Smiths daughter and Rihanna is a skill only me and my friend Sophie have mastered in the privacy of our flat. But with a Mohito cocktail in one hand and my purse in the other, I danced like no one was watching to Rihanna last night.
In summary, loads of love for her and her music.

Running Wild.. Baby Child.

Talk about geeky boys sounding sexy... WOW. Day dreaming moment... Me having a passionate kiss with a bad boy cowboy in a film to a song like "Your Touch"..............Just WOW. But I am a sucker for a guitar instrumental and american twang in a singing voice. Besides me wanting to marry the song anyway, I have got a lot of love for this twosome and have for quite a few months now! If you didn't know about them you might have heard them on the OC and School of Rock (LOVE THIS).. they have performed at Coachella and Voodoo Music Festival, shared a stage with Pearl Jam (NICE ONE BOYS)  and overall deliver their music with such grunge, head banging and passion that it made me ache to want to see them live!
With a lot of their video to "Tighten Up" made me laugh; the two little boys singing to the girls in genius, yeh its been done before but not as miniatures of the actual band...I wanted to post about these guys because their not up and coming anymore, they really have made it and I am happy for them... Numerous Grammys on the way I here so Congrats... This is just a quick post to say get listening to their album and the songs below!
Keep up the sexy geek chic boys, its a look I've been told I pull off - minus the sexy!

ALSO LOVE, NEXT GIRL....JUST LISTEN TO EVERYTHING, S'ALL I CAN SAY.

Well gather round children, zip it, LISTEN!

Okay.. I may have got wrapped up in my weekend of working and the odd glass or five.. of wine to do my blog.. so abandonment over! Friday... I did spend the car journey home listening to Adele's new album, but as nice as that was, I think there is enough hype surrounding her at the moment (even though I love her work) I want to post about someone else, so I'm going to go with KANYE! I didn't even expect this of my music taste but Rihanna/Kanye/Jay Z are all I can listen too right now... Kanye's new album/short film on YouTube (posted below) is what got me through two 5,000 word essays in December/January. For that I thank you Mr West.

"My beautiful dark twisted fantasy" is well, beautiful. I bought it the other week but cheated and listened to it on YouTube for a while before...The film is really well put together and elegant, I really can't fault Kanye.....he has officially drawn me towards his genre with his lyrics. (Maybe his lovely big eyes and smart suits might have influenced it a little bit too!) I don't think I can pick a favourite, but I did seem to have "Blame Game" on more than the rest, maybe I was feeling a bit deep that day! "Devil in a new dress" is a sexyyyy song, I'm the kind of listener that day dreams something up to fit a song, and this day dream is sexy.
The film is so strange that it's interesting; you want to know what happens to the beautiful bird girl and watch the romance unfold.. I think can be said for you guys aswell!

Anyway, if you haven't listened to this album get it bought, I'd say its a chilling in your PJ's/few beers with the guys sort of album so get listening!

Regina Spektor

Seems that all I really was doing... Was waiting for LOVE.

I really hope she wouldn't mind me saying this, but her Regina's albums and especially her cover of John Lennon's "Real Love"... are the kind of songs a girl might have a little cry too! I personally have toughened up over the past 2 years when it comes to love, but Regina made even me want to wear my heart on my sleeve! The Russian-born, American singer-songwriter is associated with the "anti-folk" scene in New York City's East Village is an inspiration to young women in the music industry and to those that aren't - enjoy her music over a cup of tea in a pouring your heart out moment! I first noticed Regina's work a few years ago, it was on Loose Women of all places, when she performed Fidelity! I liked her music then but admittedly only put her album back on after the film "500 Days of Summer"... which has become my all time favourite, i knew it had tugged at my heart trings when i turned to my dad crying "why can't she just love him back dad?" at the age of 20 years old (oh dear) Regina's music has accompanied other films too but this one seemed the most fitting to me; her lyrics are quirky, loving, witty and overall girly. Here are a couple of my favourite tracks; her new album "Far" is also available - definitely worth a listen girls and guys!

DO NOT: Cage the Elephant

Broken dreams, lonely times indeed. I will keep my eyes fixed on the sun....

Well, when i heard the very passionate, kentucky boys were back on the scene with their newly released single 'Shake me down' it was hard to keep me down from rushing to buy their new album. (Cringing at the cheesyness but its true!) Their last album was so good it was frustrating that they didn't get the whirlwind of credit I think they deserved; they gigged and toured but I don't feel they were talked about enough.

Tracks like "Back Against the Wall" & "In One Ear" are the kind of songs that give me even more faith in current and up and coming indie bands on the 00's!
This is a quick shout out to those 5 rather cute curly haired guys; appreciating your music and look forward to seeing you perform this new album in the thick of festival mud, thousands of fans out in the open air of a UK/Spanish festival this year. Get back to the UK soon boys!

FiftysAtHeart x
Ps. Have a listen to the Aint No Rest For The Wicked Reggae remix... the guys liked this so much they put it on their myspace page and are encouraging their fans to remix their songs and show their take on their music like this one....
